LUCRETIA MY REFLECTION (Andrew Taylor) I hear the roar of a big machine Two worlds and in between Hot metal and methedrine I hear empire down I hear empire down I hear the roar of a big machine Two worlds and in between Love lost, fire at will Dum-dum bullets and shoot to kill, I hear Dive, bombers, and Empire down Empire down I hear the sons of the city and dispossessed Get down, get undressed Get pretty but you and me We got the kingdom, we got the key We got the empire, now as then We don’t doubt, we don’t take direction Lucretia, my reflection, dance the ghost with me We look hard, we look through We work hard to see for real Such things I hear, well they don’t make sense I don’t see much evidence I don’t feel, I don’t feel, well I don’t feel Oh, oh, oh, oh A long train held up by page on page A hard reign held up by rage Once a railroad Now it’s done I hear the roar of a big machine Two worlds and in between Hot metal and methedrine I hear empire down We got the empire, now as then We don’t doubt, we don’t take reflection Lucretia, my direction, dance the ghost with me
2.
Human 04:27
HUMAN (Terry Lewis, James Harris III) Come on, baby, dry your eyes Wipe your tears Never like to see you cry Won’t you please forgive me? I wouldn’t ever try to hurt you I just needed someone to hold me To fill the void while you were gone To fill this space of emptiness I’m only human of flesh and blood I’m made Human, born to make mistakes So many nights I longed to hold you So many times I looked and saw your face Nothing could change the way I feel No one else could ever take your place I’m only human of flesh and blood I’m made Human, born to make mistakes (I am just a man) Human, ohh human Please forgive me The tears I cry aren’t tears of pain They’re only to hide my guilt and shame I forgive you, now I ask the same of you While we were apart I was human too Human, woah, ohh, human I’m only human of flesh and blood I’m made (I am just a man) Human, born to make mistakes
3.
ARE ‘FRIENDS’ ELECTRIC? (Gary Anthony James Webb) It’s cold outside And the paint’s peeling off of my walls There’s a man outside In a long coat, grey hat, smoking a cigarette Now the light fades out And I wonder what I’m doing in a room like this There’s a knock on the door And just for a second I thought I remembered you So now I’m alone, now I can think for myself About little deals and issues And things I just don’t understand Like a white lie that night Or a sly touch at times I don’t think it meant anything to you So I open the door It’s the ‘friend’ that I’d left in the hallway ‘Please sit down’ A candlelit shadow on a wall near the bed You know I hate to ask But are ‘friends’ electric? Only mine’s broke down And now I’ve no-one to love So I found out your reasons For the phone calls and smiles And it hurts and I’m lonely And I should never have tried And I missed you tonight It must be time to leave You see it meant everything to me
4.
HEART LIKE A WHEEL (Jo Callis, Eugene Reynolds) Calling up the promised land, Johnny Seven’s coming over the sea He’s taking your time when you want to be free Holding out a helping hand, are you ready for a real career? Will you be so cool, when it’s happening here? It don’t say nothing that I haven’t heard, if what I hear is true You won’t keep the law with a broken word, so what are you going to do? Heart like a wheel, turning away from anything that’s real Heart like a wheel changing in time, beating colder steel Pass the message around the world, the medium is in retreat The power is here, and packing some heat Sell your soul to a holy war, set the captive free We make no promises anymore, but it isn’t fooling me Heart like a wheel, turning away from anything that’s real Heart like a wheel, changing in time, beating colder steel You can’t keep the wheels turning anymore, with anger, blood and fear Or make any friends with an M16, when you blast your way through here Heart like a wheel, turning away from anything that’s real Heart like a wheel, changing in time, beating colder steel Heart like a wheel, turning away from anything that’s real Heart like a wheel, changing in time, beating colder steel Heart like a wheel, turning away from anything that’s real Heart like a wheel, driving the world is going to be a steal
5.
True Faith 06:06
True Faith (Bernard Sumner, Gillian Gilbert, Peter Hook, Stephen Eric Hague, Stephen Paul David Morris) Verse 1 I feel so extraordinary, something’s got a hold on me I get this feeling Im in motion, a sudden sense of liberty I don’t care cause I’m not there And I don’t care if I’m here tomorrow Again and again I’ve taken too much Of the things that cost you too much Chorus I used to think that the day would never come I’d see delight in the shade of the morning sun My morning sun is the drug that brings me near To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear I used to think that the day would never come That my life would depend on the morning sun... Verse 2 When I was a very small boy, very small boys talked to me Now that we’ve grown up together, they’re all taking drugs with me That’s the price that we all pay Our valued destiny comes to nothing I can’t tell you where were going I guess there’s just no way of knowing Repeat Chorus Verse 3 I feel so extraordinary, something’s got a hold on me I get this feeling I’m in motion, a sudden sense of liberty The chances are we’ve gone too far You took my time and you took my money Now I fear you’ve left me standing In a world that’s so demanding Repeat Chorus
6.
LIFE KILLS (Ian Craig Marsh, Martyn Ware, Philip Oakey) When you fall into your seat You know you feel you might be dying As the breath rasps in and out Of your burning throat You can’t control your lungs because you’re so tired You’re half awake with one arm in your coat Well thank god that there is someone there to drive you You know you couldn’t make it on your own He helps you through the door You sit down on the floor And you’re asleep before you are alone Your life is like a schedule You run to meet the bills No one’s awake to tell you Life kills For a while it seems exhaustion has subsided The day is over and the moon is high But your period of work is predecided Funny how the hours of freedom seem to fly Well thank god that there is someone there to drive you You know you couldn’t make it on your own He helps you in the door You sit down as before Another shift to pay another loan Your life is like a schedule You run to meet the bills No one’s awake to tell you Life kills Your life is like a schedule You run to meet the bills No one’s awake to tell you Life kills
7.
Duel 05:25
DUEL (Claudia Ute Brucken, Michael Mertens, Ralf Doerper) Eye to eye stand winners and losers Hurt by envy, cut by greed Face to face with their own disillusions The scars of old romances still on their cheeks And when blow by blow The passion dies Sweet little death, just have been lies Some memories of gone by time will still recall the lies The first cut won’t hurt at all The second only makes you wonder The third will have you on your knees You start bleeding, I start screaming It’s too late, the decision is made by fate Time to prove what forever should last Whose feelings are so true as to stand the test? Whose demands are so strong as to parry all attacks? And when blow by blow The passion dies Sweet little death, just have been lies Some memories of gone by time will still recall the lies The first cut won’t hurt at all The second only makes you wonder The third will have you on your knees You start bleeding, I start screaming The first cut won’t hurt at all The second only makes you wonder The third will have you on your knees You start bleeding, I start screaming
8.
Pet Sematary 04:06
PET SEMATARY (Daniel Rey, Dee Dee Ramone, Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone) Under the arc of a weather stain boards Ancient goblins, and warlords Come out the ground, not making a sound The smell of death is all around And the night when the cold wind blows, no one cares, nobody knows I don’t want to be buried in a pet cemetery I don’t want to live my life that way I don’t want to be buried in a pet cemetery I don’t want to live my life again Follow Victor to the sacred place, this ain’t a dream, I can’t escape Molars and fangs, the clicking of bones Spirits moaning among the tombstones And the night, when the moon is bright Someone cries, something ain’t right I don’t want to be buried in a pet cemetery I don’t want to live my life that way I don’t want to be buried in a pet cemetery I don’t want to live my life again The moon is full, the air is still, all of a sudden I feel a chill Victor is grinning, flesh is rotting away Skeletons dance, I curse this day And at night when the wolves cry out Listen close and you can hear me shout I don’t want to be buried in a pet cemetery I don’t want to live my life that way I don’t want to be buried in a pet cemetery I don’t want to live my life again, oh, no, oh, no I don’t want to live my life, not again, oh, no, oh, oh I don’t want to live my life, not again, oh, no, no, no I don’t want to live my life...
9.
BUT NOT TONIGHT (Martin Gore) Oh God, it’s raining, but I’m not complaining It’s filling me up with new life The stars in the sky bring tears to my eyes They’re lighting my way tonight And I haven’t felt so alive in years Just for a day on a day like today I’ll get away from this constant debauchery The wind in my hair makes me so aware How good it is to live tonight And I haven’t felt so alive in years The moon is shining in the sky Reminding me of so many other nights But they’re not like tonight Oh God, it’s raining and I’m not containing My pleasure at being so wet Here on my own, all on my own How good it feels to be alone tonight And I haven’t felt so alive in years The moon is shining in the sky Reminding me of so many other nights When my eyes had been so red I’d been mistaken for dead But not tonight

about

Parralox Melbourne, Australia

If ever there was a new electronic pop band to encapsulate and emulate the legendary stylings of Depeche Mode, The Human League, Erasure, New Order, Pet Shop Boys and the spirit of Madonna in her 80s day-glo era, then Australia’s Parralox are that modern-day reincarnation. ... more
